Pregnancy so far...

Hi and welcome to my new blog.  Being almost at the halfway point of my pregnancy, I figured that although I have a ton of things to do for both work and school, so many things are changing with me and our baby, that I really should take the time to document the little events.  I'm sure I'll be thankful for it later because I'll have something to look back to so that I can laugh about things that I once worried about, or be able to relive the moments that I know I'll want to remember.

So I guess I'll start by saying that I am currently 17 weeks and 4 days along.  I've definitely got a bump now that makes it more obvious that I'm pregnant, rather than just looking like I may have eaten too much.  This picture is a couple weeks old, and I am a teeny bit bigger, but at least you get the idea.  :)

The first part of the pregnancy was pretty rough.  I was always sick.  I'd wake up very nauseated.  Michael would try to get me to eat breakfast, but at the most, all I could keep down was a piece of toast and a little Sierra Mist.  Then I'd get up to go to work still feeling extremely tired, but okay....until 9:45ish, when the morning sickness would strike again.  Michael bought me "Preggie Pops" and those helped me through it.  I'd be fine for the rest of the school day, but starting around 4pm until 10, I'd be nauseous the whole time.  I had no appetite and most things made me feel sick even at the thought of eating it.  This was basically my body's daily routine starting from week 8 until week 15.

Thankfully, I'm feeling much better now!  Besides the fact that sleeping is difficulty since I'm a stomach sleeper and must now sleep on my side....I'm doing well.  I've got an appetite again, and am able to eat and enjoy my food with no problems.  My cravings have come in phases and have (so far) included:  breakfast sausage and cheese sandwich on an english muffin, chocolate milk, toast, meat, mashed potatoes, Chinese food, popcorn, and cheese.  Thankfully, Michael has been pretty flexible with me and kind enough to help me get ahold of what I'm hungry for.

On the medical side of things, according to my doctors, everything is going well and the baby is healthy. We've been going to my appointments every 3-4 weeks, and the doctor says that my lab work, blood pressure and everything is very healthy.  We've had 2 ultrasounds so far and the baby looks like it's developing well and growing.

At 8 weeks & 2 days

At 13 weeks
Front view of baby (also at 13 weeks)

Our next will be at the 2nd trimester ultrasound where the doctor will do a full anatomy check...where we will find out if we're having a boy or a girl!

We're so excited....feel so blessed and know that we have so much to look forward to!
